Rāja yoga

Raja Yoga is a type of yoga that helps us to focus our minds and control our thoughts. It is like a superpower for our mind! Imagine that you are playing a video game and your mind is the controller. By practicing Raja Yoga, you can become really good at using the controller to help you win the game of life!

So, how do we practice Raja Yoga? Well, there are many ways, but one of the most important is through meditation. Meditation is like taking a quiet break for your mind. You sit down, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. When your mind starts to wander (which it will), you gently bring it back to your breath. Over time, this helps you to become more aware of your own thoughts and feelings, and to be able to choose which ones you want to focus on.

Another important part of Raja Yoga is living a good and ethical life. This means being kind to others, telling the truth, and not hurting anyone. By doing this, we create good karma, which is like a positive energy that comes back to us in the future.

In Raja Yoga, we also learn about the different levels of consciousness. The lowest level is our everyday waking state, where we are distracted and scattered. The next level is “dreaming” consciousness, where we experience vivid and sometimes bizarre dreams. Beyond that is “deep sleep” consciousness, where we experience rest and renewal. And at the highest level is “superconscious” where we have a deeper connection to the universe and feel a sense of oneness with all things.

By practicing Raja Yoga, we can learn how to move beyond our everyday awareness and tap into these deeper levels of consciousness. This helps us to feel more peaceful, balanced, and connected to the world around us. So, just like a superhero needs to practice their powers to be really good at them, we can practice Raja Yoga to become super powerful with our minds!
