ROC analysis

ROC Analysis is a way to measure how well something can tell one thing from another. It is used in many different fields, such as healthcare and law enforcement. To understand ROC Analysis, imagine a big box with 100 different questions inside. Each question is a "yes" or "no" type of question. For example, is the person sick or not sick? To figure out a person's health, you can ask the questions inside the box and give a score for each"yes" answer. You would add up the scores for all the "yes" questions and divide that by the total number of questions. This score is called the Area Under the Curve (AUC). A higher AUC score means that the box can better tell one thing from the other. In healthcare, having a higher AUC score means that the box can tell if a person is or isn't sick better. In law enforcement, having a higher AUC score could mean that the box can better tell if a person is guilty or not guilty.
