Radioisotope generator

A radioisotope generator is a special machine that uses something called "radioactive materials" to make electricity.

You know how batteries have something inside them that makes them work? Well, radioisotope generators work kind of like batteries, but instead of using chemicals to make electricity, they use special rocks that give off a type of energy called "radiation".

These rocks are called "radioisotopes" and they are special because they give off a lot of energy all the time, even when they are just sitting there.

So, scientists put these radioisotopes into the radioisotope generator, and the generator uses the energy from the radiation to make electricity. This electricity can be used to power all sorts of things, like lights or machines or even spaceships that go to other planets.

The great thing about radioisotope generators is that they don't need to be charged like regular batteries, because the radioisotopes inside them keep making energy all the time.
