ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Remote monitoring and control

Remote monitoring and control means that you can use a special device or computer program to keep an eye on something that's far away from you and be able to control it too. It's just like when your parents set up a baby monitor in your room so they can hear and see you when you're sleeping, but instead of checking on a baby, you're checking on something like a machine or a building.

For example, let's say there's a big factory that makes toys for kids. It has a lot of machines and people working in it. In the old days, if something went wrong with one of the machines, someone would have to go to the factory, figure out what the problem was and fix it. But now, using remote monitoring and control, someone can check on all the machines in the factory from a computer in a different location, without having to physically go there.

They can see how each machine is working, and if any of them are having problems, they can use the program to fix them from afar. They might adjust settings, turn a machine on or off, or even order a replacement part to be sent to the factory.

Remote monitoring and control is super helpful because it can save a lot of time and money. Instead of having to physically travel to a location to check on something, or pay someone else to do it, it can all be done quickly and easily from a computer.
