ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Right to homeland

Imagine you had a special place that you really liked. Maybe it's your backyard or your room. Now, imagine someone told you that you couldn't go there anymore. How would you feel?

Well, some people feel the same way about their homeland. A homeland is like a special place where you come from, where your family has lived for a long time. It's a place where you belong, where you feel safe and comfortable.

The right to homeland means that everyone has the right to a place they can call home. It means that people should be able to live in the place where their family has always lived, or where they feel most connected to.

Sometimes, people are forced to leave their homeland because of things like war or natural disasters. When this happens, it can be really sad and hard for them. The right to homeland means that these people should have the right to go back to their homeland someday, if they want to.

So, just like you have the right to go to your backyard or your room whenever you want, people have the right to their homeland too. It's an important right because it means that everyone has a place where they belong and feel safe.
