ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rounding

Hey there! Do you know what rounding means? It's like when you have a number that has a lot of parts after the dot (called a decimal) and you want to make it simpler. So instead of having parts like 0.53 or 0.87, you round it up or down to a cleaner number like 1 or 0.5.

Let's say you have the number 2.7 and you want to round it. If you round it to the nearest whole number, which is either 2 or 3, it's closer to 3, so you round it up to 3. But if you round it to the nearest tenth (which is the first number after the dot), it's closer to 2.7 than 2.8, so you leave it at 2.7.

Rounding can be helpful when you're working with numbers that are hard to work with or need to be simplified. But it's important to remember that rounding changes the number slightly, so you always want to make sure it's okay to round before you do it.

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions about rounding!
