ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Rudder

Okay kiddo, imagine you are playing with your toy boat in the bath tub. You want to make your boat turn left or right but it just keeps going straight. What can you do? This is where the rudder comes in!

The rudder is a special part of the boat that helps it turn left or right. It's like a flat piece of metal or wood that's attached to the back of the boat near the bottom. The rudder moves left or right and steers the boat in the direction you want it to go.

Just like when you turn the steering wheel in a car to make it go left or right, when the boat's rudder moves left or right, it changes the direction the boat is moving.

So next time you play with your toy boat, remember how important the rudder is for making it turn and go where you want it to go!
