ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Schilling rudder

Okay, little one, have you ever heard of a boat or a ship? They are big vehicles that can travel on water. However, it's not easy to control them when they are in motion. The schilling rudder is a tool that helps steer the boat or ship.

Think of it like a big, flat plate that can move in different directions. The plate is connected to the back of the boat, and it can be controlled by the captain. When the captain turns the schilling rudder in a certain direction, it moves the back of the boat in that same direction.

This helps the boat turn and maneuver through the water. Without a schilling rudder, it would be very difficult to turn the boat or keep it on course. So, it's an important tool for the captain to have in order to keep their vessel on track.

Does that make sense, kiddo?
