Safety lamp

A safety lamp is a special type of light that miners use when they go underground to mine for things like coal or minerals. It is called a safety lamp because it helps keep the miners safe.

The lamp works by trapping a tiny bit of gas inside a container made of metal. When the gas burns, it creates light for the miners to see with. This container is designed to prevent the gas from escaping and causing an explosion.

You can think of the safety lamp like a really small house. Inside the house, there is a light that is on. The house has walls and a roof to keep the light inside. The house is also made of strong materials that won't break or let any air in.

The reason why it's important for the lamp to prevent gas from escaping is because there are gases underground that can be very dangerous. If the gas mixes with oxygen, it can create a big explosion that can hurt or even kill the miners.

So, the safety lamp is like a protector for the miners. It keeps them safe by making sure any gas that could be harmful is trapped inside the lamp, away from the miners. When the miners see the light, they know that it's safe to work underground.
