ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Scotticism

Okay kiddo, so scotticism is when someone speaks or writes using words and phrases that are specific to Scotland. Just like how you might have your own special words and phrases that your friends or family use.

For example, in Scotland they might say "wee" to mean "small" or "tiny" whereas in other places they might say "little".

Sometimes people who aren't from Scotland might have trouble understanding these words or phrases, so it's important to explain them clearly.

But it's also really cool to learn about different languages and cultures, so don't be afraid to ask questions and learn new words!
