Second Cold War

The Second Cold War is what people call the period of time when the United States and the Soviet Union (now Russia) were in a state of great distrust and tension. This period was like a war without actual fighting. It lasted from the end of World War II until the early 1990s. During this time, the two countries were hostile towards each other and competed in many areas, such as military strength and scientific research. They were also suspicious of each other and tried to outdo each other in different ways. These tensions between the two countries sometimes caused short conflicts in other parts of the world. The end of the Second Cold War came when the Soviet Union collapsed in the early 1990s.
