Seigneurialism

Seigneurialism is when a very rich person, called a lord or seigneur, owns a big piece of land. The lord gives some of this land to other people, called peasants, who work on the land to grow crops and raise animals. In exchange for using the land, the peasants have to give some of the crops they grow and animals they raise to the lord.

The lord also has the power to make rules that the peasants have to follow, like when they can plant and harvest their crops, and what they can and can't do on the land. Sometimes, the lord would let the peasants use some of the land for their own homes and gardens, but they still had to follow the lord's rules and give some of their crops to the lord.

Overall, seigneurialism was a system where the rich lord controlled the land and resources, while the peasants worked hard to grow food and give some of it to the lord. It was a big part of life in some places a long time ago, especially in Europe during the Middle Ages.
