ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sexual behavior of horses

Horses, just like humans, also have sexual behavior. However, unlike humans, horses have a different way of showing their sexual behavior.

When a male horse, called a stallion, feels attracted to a female horse, called a mare, he will approach her and try to smell her genital area to know if she is ready to mate. If she is, he will try to mount her by jumping on her back and holding onto her with his front legs.

During mating, the male horse's penis will become erect, and he will insert it into the mare's vagina. The penis of the horse is much larger compared to other animals.

After mating, the mare will carry the foal in her womb for about 11 months before giving birth.

Overall, horses have their unique way of showing their sexual behavior, which is different from how humans do it.
