ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Shill

Shill is when someone pretends to be an interested customer in order to make something seem more popular or better than it really is. It can be done in a lot of different ways, but one example is that a company might hire someone to pretend to be a customer and say how great their products or services are, or to get people to buy them. That way, other people who see the shilling will think that many people are interested in the product or service, so they will be more likely to buy it.
