Sibilant consonant

A sibilant consonant is a type of sound made when you make a "hissing" noise. It is made by pushing air through a narrow passage between your tongue and the roof of your mouth. Examples of sibilant consonants are the "s" sound in snake and the "sh" sound in ship.
