ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Silovik

A silovik is a fancy word for a person who works for the government in Russia and has some sort of power or influence. Think of it like a superhero team, but instead of saving the day, they're trying to run the country. Siloviks can be in charge of things like the army, police, intelligence agencies, or other important government departments.

So, imagine there are different members of the team with their own superpowers. For example, one member might have super strength and be in charge of the army. Another might have super intelligence and be in charge of the intelligence agencies. They all work together to try and make Russia a strong and successful country.

But sometimes, people get worried that the siloviks have too much power and might use it for their own benefit instead of for the good of the country. This is a big concern because it can lead to corruption and other problems. So, it's important for the government to make sure that the siloviks are using their powers properly and not abusing them.

Overall, a silovik is just a person who has an important job in the government and helps run the country. But, like all superheroes, they have to be careful with their powers and use them for good.
