Singular-value decomposition

Singular-value decomposition is a way of taking something that is really complicated into simpler parts. Imagine you have a really big jigsaw puzzle, with a lot of different shapes, colors, and sizes. Singular-value decomposition is like a machine that takes all the pieces and breaks them down into their individual pieces. It sorts each piece by its size, shape, and color, and puts them together in the easiest way. Once the pieces are sorted, it's much easier to put the puzzle together!
