ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Skin

Skin is like a protective covering all over our body. It's like wearing clothes, but it's a part of our body that we can't take off. Skin helps to keep us safe from things like pain, cuts, and germs. It also helps to regulate our body temperature since it can sweat, which cools us down when we're hot.

Underneath our skin, there are lots of other important things that keep us healthy, like blood vessels that carry blood all through our body and nerves that help us feel things like touch, heat, and cold. Our skin has different layers, kind of like a cake. The outer layer, called the epidermis, is the part of our skin that we see and touch. The deeper layers help make new skin cells and give our skin its strength.

We have to take care of our skin so it keeps working well. This means washing it with soap and water, not spending too much time in the sun without sunscreen, and avoiding things that could damage our skin like touching hot things or getting cuts. If we take good care of our skin, we can help keep ourselves healthy and happy!
