Soft science fiction

Soft science fiction (often shortened to soft SF) is a type of science fiction that focuses more on fiction and story rather than the facts and scientific details. It is usually more fantasy-like than hard science fiction, meaning some events and ideas may seem more impossible. Instead of scientific accuracy, soft SF focuses on values, emotions and social issues. For example, a book about the effects of a new machine on a group of people's lives, rather than the details of the machine itself. It often includes themes related to philosophy, communication, psychology, society, and technology.
