Spaceflight

Spaceflight is when people or things are sent into outer space, such as on a rocket. A rocket is like a big, powerful machine that can shoot far into the sky. People sit inside the rocket and when it takes off they feel like they are being pushed back into their seat. The rocket starts to go really fast, accelerating and pushing through the atmosphere, until it reaches outer space. Outer space is the area of the universe beyond the planet Earth, and when we are in this area it feels like we are floating, because there is no air or gravity. Spaceflight is used to explore outer space, do experiments in zero gravity, put satellites and other things into orbit, and even sometimes take people to the Moon and back!
