ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Specific heat capacity

Specific heat capacity is like a puzzle piece that helps us understand how things change when they get hot. It tells us how much energy something needs in order to get hotter. Have you ever put a spoon in a cup of hot cocoa? The spoon gets hot and the hot cocoa gets cooler. This is because the spoon has a higher specific heat capacity than the hot cocoa, so it needs more energy to get hotter. That's why the hot cocoa cools down faster.
