Steatosis

Steatosis is like having too much fat in your liver. Just like we have fat on our bodies that we can see and feel, our liver can also store fat inside of it. This is normal in small amounts, but when there is too much fat in the liver, it can cause problems.

Think about the liver like a big filter. It helps remove toxins from our blood and produces a lot of important substances that our body needs to function properly. When there is too much fat inside of the liver, it gets in the way of these important functions and can even cause damage.

Some things that can cause steatosis include eating too much fatty and sugary foods, drinking too much alcohol, and certain medical conditions. If someone has steatosis, their doctor might suggest changes to their diet or lifestyle to help reduce the amount of fat in their liver. They might also need to take medication or have other treatments to help improve their liver function.
