ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Subject (grammar)

Subjects in grammar are the who or what that does the action in a sentence. Think of it like this: if a sentence is a story, then the subject is the character that is doing something. For example, in the sentence "The dog chased the cat," the subject is "the dog" because it is the one doing the action (chasing). Without a subject, a sentence wouldn't make sense or tell a complete story. So, always remember to include a subject in your sentences!
