Subsistence fishing

Subsistence fishing is when people catch fish for food and other basic needs, rather than just for fun or as a job. It's kind of like going to the grocery store, but instead of buying food, you catch it yourself!

When people subsistence fish, they usually use simple equipment like fishing lines, nets or traps, and they fish in small lakes, rivers, and streams close to where they live. Sometimes they even fish in the ocean!

For people who live in remote areas or countries, subsistence fishing is very important because it provides a way for them to get the food they need to live. They might not have access to stores or markets, so catching fish themselves is a necessary way to feed their families.

However, we also need to make sure that subsistence fishing is sustainable, meaning that we don't overfish and harm the health of fish populations or ecosystems. So, some communities have rules or guidelines to protect fish populations and ensure that there are enough fish to catch for future generations.
