Surveillance

Surveillance is a way of watching someone or something to make sure that they're okay. It could be somebody's parents keeping a close eye on them while they're playing in the park, or a security guard watching the cameras in a store to make sure nobody is stealing. Sometimes people have cameras or other technology that can see people or places from far away and keep track of what's going on. This is called "remote surveillance".
