ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Svið

Okay kiddo, Svið is a traditional Icelandic dish that is made out of a sheep's head. Yes, you heard it right, a sheep's head! Don't worry, it may sound weird, but it's actually quite tasty, and people in Iceland have been eating it for centuries.

First, the sheep's head is cleaned and then it's boiled in water for a few hours until the meat is soft and tender. Then, the meat is separated from the bones, and it's served with mashed potatoes, turnips, and sometimes a creamy sauce.

Some people like to eat all of the parts of the sheep's head, including the tongue, eyeballs, and brain. Others prefer only the meat.

Eating Svið is a way for Icelanders to celebrate their farming traditions and to use all parts of the animal, not just the meat that we're used to. It might sound a bit scary at first, but you never know, you might like it! Would you like to try it?
