ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Swastika

The swastika is a symbol that has been around for a very long time. It looks a bit like a square with lines sticking out of each corner. It has been used in many different cultures and religions, like Hinduism, Buddhism, and Native American cultures.

However, during World War II, a group called the Nazis in Germany started using the swastika as their symbol. They did very bad things to people, like hurting and killing them, and used the swastika to represent their group. Because of this, the swastika is now associated with hate and harm.

So while the swastika itself is just a symbol, it's important to understand that it has a complicated history and can mean different things to different people. It's always a good idea to be respectful of others' feelings and beliefs, and to never use symbols like the swastika to hurt or harm anyone.
