Tactical air navigation system

A tactical air navigation system is a special tool that helps pilots to know where they are and where they are going when they are flying their airplanes. It is like a GPS but specially designed to work with airplanes.

So imagine you are playing with a toy airplane and you want to know where it is, you could use a map to look for it. Well, pilots use something similar called the tactical air navigation system. It is a box that they have in their airplane that uses radio signals to tell the pilots where they are on a map.

The box picks up signals from special ground stations called navigation aids and then it shows a line on the map that tells the pilot where they should go. They can use this information to help them stay on track and reach their destination safely.

The system is very useful when flying in bad weather or at night because the pilot can still see where they are going even if they can't see the ground. It is a very important tool for pilots to have, especially when flying in areas where there are no roads or landmarks to help them navigate.
