Taxation as theft is an idea that says when the government takes money from people through taxes, the government is stealing from them. This is because the money belongs to the people who pay taxes and the government is taking it without the people's permission. Just like a robber might take something from someone, the government can take away money from people without their permission and this is why some people think it is like stealing.
