Telephone booth

A telephone booth is like a small room that you can go into to make phone calls. It's like a little house for talking on the phone! You can see through the glass walls of the booth, but people outside can't hear your conversation because the walls keep the sound inside.

A long time ago, people didn't have phones in their pockets like we do now. So, if they needed to make a call, they would go to a telephone booth on the street or in a public place. They would drop some money into the phone and dial the number they wanted to call.

Nowadays, you don't see many telephone booths around anymore because most people have cell phones. But some places still have them as a decoration or for nostalgic reasons. Also, sometimes you might see them in movies or TV shows set in the past because they were a common thing back then.
