Textile printing

Textile printing is when pictures, patterns, or designs are added to clothes or fabrics. Think of it like coloring on a piece of paper with crayons, but on clothes instead.

There are different ways to do textile printing, but one of the most common methods is screen printing. It is like using a stencil to paint an image onto a wall. First, a special mesh screen is made with the opposite of the image on it - this means where the image is meant to be, the screen is blocked off so ink can't go through. Then, ink is pressed onto the screen and forced through onto the fabric. The ink sticks to the fabric and leaves a pattern or design.

Other methods of textile printing include digital printing, where a printer prints the image onto the fabric directly, or block printing, where a carved block is dipped in ink and then stamped onto the fabric.

People use textile printing to create unique and interesting clothes or to put designs on fabrics for decorative or functional purposes.
