Thermal decomposition

Thermal decomposition is when something changes when it gets hot. When something undergoes thermal decomposition it means it breaks down into two or more different pieces when it gets hot. For example, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) breaks down into soda ash (sodium carbonate) and water and carbon dioxide when it is heated.
