Traffic counter

A traffic counter is a device that counts how many vehicles drive past it. They usually look like tubes that are in the ground and when a car drives over them, the device counts them. They are often used on the side of the road or in parking lots. The information the device collects helps people plan for the future, like deciding how many lanes to build on a road, or how many parking spaces to make in a parking lot.
