Train ferry

Oh, hi little one! Have you ever seen a big train on train tracks before? Well, sometimes these trains need to cross over a big body of water like a lake or an ocean. But trains can't just drive or swim across the water like boats or cars can. So, people came up with something called a train ferry!

A train ferry is like a really big boat that can carry a whole train! Imagine a huge bridge that goes over the water, but instead of driving on top of the bridge, the train drives onto the boat and sits on a huge platform. Once the train is loaded onto the boat, the boat starts moving across the water like a regular boat, but with a whole train on board!

When the train ferry gets to the other side of the water, the boat pulls up to another platform and the train drives off, continuing on its journey on the tracks. Pretty cool, huh?

Train ferries have been around for a long time and they're really important because they help move goods and people from one place to another, even if there's a big body of water in the way. So next time you see a train on tracks, try to imagine how it would cross over a big lake or ocean without a train ferry!
