ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Urethra

Hey there! Do you know what a pee pee is? It's the thing that allows you to pee - like a little tube that goes from your bladder to the outside. And that tube is called the urethra!

So, when you drink water or eat food, your body takes in the things it needs and then sends the waste, which is pee, to your bladder. Later on, when you need to pee, your brain tells your body to squeeze your bladder. This causes the pee to travel down the urethra and come out of your body.

In girls, the urethra is pretty short and goes straight from the bladder to the outside of the body. In boys, the urethra is longer and also goes through their penis. This is the reason why boy peepees can aim their pee and why it can be hard to pee with a boner.

But no matter if you're a boy or a girl, the most important thing is that the urethra helps to get rid of the waste in your body so you can feel healthy and happy!
