Vendor lock-in

Vendor lock-in is when you are stuck using a particular company's products because it would cost too much money or be too difficult to switch to another company. Imagine you buy a certain type of cell phone and you like it, so you get lots of accessories made only for that phone. But then a better phone comes out that you want to switch to, but the new phone won't work with those accessories. That's an example of vendor lock-in because the company that made your old phone doesn't allow their products to work with the new phone.
