ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Vow of silence

Hi little one! So, you know how sometimes we use our voices to talk to people and share our thoughts and feelings? Well, a vow of silence is when someone chooses not to use their voice and stays quiet for a certain amount of time.

Sometimes people take a vow of silence because they want to show how much they care about something, like the environment or an important cause. Other times, they might do it as a way to show respect or honor a spiritual practice.

While they are not talking, people who have taken a vow of silence might communicate in different ways, like using sign language or writing things down on paper.

Does that make sense? Do you have any questions?
