Waste-to-energy plant

A waste-to-energy plant is a place where we turn garbage or trash into energy. Have you ever seen a fire burning wood? It's similar to that! But instead of wood, we use garbage.

First, the garbage is taken to the plant where it is sorted and separated. We want to make sure that anything dangerous or harmful, like batteries or chemicals, are taken out so they don't pollute the energy we create.

Next, the garbage is put into a big furnace that heats it up really hot, like in a big oven. When the garbage gets really hot, it turns into gas or steam, which we can use as energy to power things like lights or even your home!

The leftover ash from the garbage is then taken and turned into something else, like cement or road materials.
