ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Watermark

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a picture with a word or a logo that looks kind of like a shadow on it? That's called a watermark! It's like an invisible stamp that people put on their pictures to show that they own them or made them.

Think of it like when you draw a pretty picture and you write your name on it so everyone knows that you made it! The watermark is like the artist's signature so no one can steal their work and say they did it instead.

Sometimes watermarks are big and easy to see, like when you buy a ticket to a concert or movie and the ticket has the name of the event on it. Other times they are smaller and harder to see, like when someone puts their name or a copyright symbol on a picture.

So that's what a watermark is, it's kind of like an invisible signature on pictures to show who made them and keep them safe!
