ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Whitewater kayaking

Whitewater kayaking is a fun and exciting sport where you ride a special boat called a kayak down a river with lots of rapids, or bumpy parts of the water.

Think of it like going on a big water slide, but instead of sitting on a tube, you are sitting in a little boat that you control with special paddles.

Before you go kayaking, you need to wear a special life jacket and a helmet to keep you safe.

When you start going down the river, you need to be careful and look out for rocks and other things in the water that could bump into you. You also need to paddle really hard to steer your kayak and make sure you stay on course.

Sometimes the rapids will be really big and you might go over them and get splashed with water, which can be lots of fun!

To be good at whitewater kayaking, you need to practice a lot and learn how to read the water so you know where to go and how to avoid anything dangerous. It's important to always follow safety rules and have fun!
