ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Winemaking

Winemaking is a special process where we make yummy drinks from grapes. First, we pick big, juicy grapes from the vineyards. Then, we put them in a machine that squishes them down to make a juice.

Next, we add special tiny things called yeast to the juice. The yeast eat the sugar in the juice and make bubbles called carbon dioxide. This makes the juice turn into alcohol.

After a while, the yeast get tired and go to sleep. At this point, we filter out the liquid part and throw away the squished grape skin and seeds. The liquid is then put in special barrels where it can age for a long time.

While waiting, we check on the wine to make sure it tastes good. Sometimes we add other things like fruits or spices to give it a special flavor. Then, when it's ready, we bottle it up and sell it to people who love yummy drinks.

It takes a long time and a lot of work to make wine, but it's worth it because it tastes so good!
