Women in ancient warfare

In the past, when people fought wars, it was mostly men who did the fighting. However, in some ancient societies, women would also join in the fighting.

Now, even though women were involved in battles, it wasn't as common as men being involved. That's because in those days, people believed that it was a man's job to fight and protect the family and country. But there were some women who were very brave and wanted to help protect their families and homes from danger, so they would fight too.

These women were often part of a tribe or group that was constantly in conflict with other groups. They would be trained to use weapons like spears, swords, and bows and arrows, just like the men. They would wear armor to protect themselves and ride horses or use chariots just like the men did.

Some famous examples of women warriors from ancient times include the legendary Amazons, who were a group of women warriors from Greek mythology. Another example is the Mongol Empire, where women were trained to fight alongside men in battles.

Despite the fact that women were not always allowed to fight, some of them did and played an important role in protecting their families and their people from harm.
