Wound licking

Wound licking is when a person or an animal licks a cut or a scrape on their skin. When we get hurt and break the skin, our body tries to heal it by sending tiny cells and proteins to the area where the cut is. These cells help to stop any germs from getting into the wound and start to rebuild new skin cells to fix it.

When we lick a wound, it might feel like it's helping, but it can actually do more harm than good. Licking can introduce even more germs to the cut or scrape, making the healing process slower and more painful. In addition, our saliva contains enzymes and bacteria that can irritate and infect the wound, making it harder for our body to heal it.

So, it's important to keep our wounds clean and dry instead of licking them. We can wash them gently with soap and water and cover them with a bandage or plaster to protect it from getting more germs in. This way, our body has a better chance of healing it faster and preventing any infection.
