Adams v Cape Industries plc

Okay kiddo, this is the story of a big company, called Cape Industries, and some workers who got sick because of asbestos at their workplace. The workers wanted to sue the company, but Cape Industries said they shouldn't be allowed to because the company was actually made up of a bunch of smaller companies, and the one that was responsible for the asbestos wasn't the same as the one being sued.

But then a court case happened, called Adams v Cape Industries, where the workers argued that even though there were all these different companies under the Cape Industries umbrella, they should still be considered one big company, and therefore responsible for everything that happened to the workers.

In the end, the court agreed with the workers and said that Cape Industries couldn't use its corporate structure to avoid being responsible for what happened to the workers. This was an important decision for workers' rights, because it meant that companies couldn't just hide behind different names and structures to escape blame for doing something wrong.
