An at-grade intersection is a place where two roads meet at the same level, or grade, on the ground. Imagine you have two roads that cross each other like a big "+" sign. Where they meet is called an at-grade intersection.
When cars, bikes and people come to an at-grade intersection, they have to be careful and make sure they don't run into each other. Just like how you have to look both ways before crossing the street, cars have to slow down and look both ways before entering the intersection.
Sometimes at-grade intersections have stop signs or traffic lights to help control the flow of traffic. This makes it easier for everyone to get where they need to go safely. But, it's still very important to be aware of your surroundings and follow the rules of the road, even if you're walking or biking.
