Balut (food)

Balut is a food that comes from eggs. It is a special type of egg that is usually made from duck or chicken. The way the egg is made is a little bit different from the way you might cook eggs at home.

First, people let the eggs grow for a while. That means a little duck or chicken is growing inside the egg. Then, the people cook the egg but only for a little bit. That way, the baby duck or chicken inside is still alive.

When it is time to eat the egg, people crack open the top of the eggshell and drink the juice inside. This juice is called the "broth." Then, they peel off the shell and eat the egg with a spoon.
