Caste

Caste is a system of social organization that groups people into four main categories. These categories are called Hindu castes. The four castes are called Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra. Brahmin are thought of as the highest caste, or social class. Kshatriya are military and ruling class people. Vaishya are traders and farmers, and Shudra are service providers. Each caste has different roles and responsibilities in the Hindu community. People generally can only marry someone who is in the same caste as them.
