Civil death

Civil death is when a person loses their rights as a citizen and is treated as if they are dead. This often happens when someone has committed a serious crime and the court finds them guilty. This means that, just like when someone dies, their government benefits like pensions and voting rights can be taken away, and they might not be allowed to work in certain jobs.
