ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Collective rights

Collective rights are rights that belong to a group of people, not to individuals. For example, every American has the right to free speech and assembly, which belongs to everyone in the country collectively. Other examples of collective rights are people's right to vote, rights to freedom from discrimination, the right to education, and the right to a healthful environment. Collective rights mean that all people in the group can benefit from the same rights and protections.
