ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Commodity feminism

Commodity feminism means using things like pink products, clothes, or toys to sell the idea of women feeling empowered, strong, and independent. The idea is that by buying these products, women can show their support for feminism and be part of a movement for gender equality. However, the problem is that sometimes these products are just ways for companies to make money, and they do not actually do anything to help women who are struggling with issues like discrimination, sexism, or inequality. So, it's important to be careful when buying and using products that claim to be feminist, and to think about how they might perpetuate harmful stereotypes or reinforce existing inequalities between genders.
